Last week Jay and I decided to finally take a trip to The Florida Keys, we thought we’d spent one night in Key Largo then the next in Key West (the most well known Key). But after our first night in Key Largo, we decided Key Largo had more to offer than we thought. Our next two days were filled with snorkeling, kayaking, sightseeing and biking around the town.
What is in Key Largo?
Key Largo is the northernmost of the Keys, meaning it is the closest to the mainland. Considering most people do not live in Florida, they most likely do not know much about The Florida Keys besides Key West. The most common misconception about the Keys is that it’s filled with beaches. However this is not true, even the locals will tell you that! Instead of beach-going at Key Largo, you can go snorkeling, paddle boarding, jet skiing, parasailing, and spear fishing.
The above pictures are of the resort we stayed at and our cute pink cottage we booked for the night! This hotel included free bike rentals, kayaks rentals and paddle boarding rentals with your stay. You can check out their website here!
A trip to Key Largo can be a great way to getaway without spending a crazy amount of money. The not well known Key has kind people, beautiful scenery, and great weather, I suggest trying out Key Largo before heading to Key West the next time you are planning a trip to The Florida Keys.
